Frozen Hood furling bearing

Last year I purchased a 1980 Pearson 30. This spring I found a bearing on the deck and knew it had to come from the roller furling. Upon inspection, I found no bearings left, a rusted ring, and the outer and inner parts of the bearing still attached but not connected. The outer part of the bearing is frozen to the drum and the inner part of the bearing is frozen to the center part that is attached to the forestay. Since two metals are involved, aluminum and steel, they are corroded firmly together. I have applied penetrating oil daily for over a week now, used a chisel, but cannot break it loose. I was told to use heat but warned that too much heat could destroy the aluminum. I have found and purchased the replacement bearing and obviouldy am trying to avoid the expense of a new furling system. Any Suggestions?
