Today was a cold morning to haul out. You can see the sea smoke rolling over the harbor on the North wind.

The season is over. It may have been the best five months strung together, weather wise, that I can remember.

I always feel some relief in the fall, when the boat is safely on the hard.

We don't give up when it cools off around here. It's the 40-degree rain that keeps us off the water.
I'm still hoping for a few more weeks of Summer.

Yeah, I shut down about 6 weeks too early this year. I took that first rain after the long dry, warm summer as a sign that winter was upon us... only to be surprised by a nice "indian summer" season into October. Jeeze, we even had a dry Halloween.

On into September and a good part of October, I was watching boats go up and down Admiralty inlet, and at times saw small boats gliding along the Saratoga passage... and the real irony... there was wind!

I had already stripped the sails, put up the tarps, double tied the lines, and called the season over. I should have waited until the first real sub 40 temps. D'OH!

I am sooo glad we have already hauled out and don't have to deal with that. I have to finish putting her to bed though.
It was 92 degrees in Dallas last weekend when we watched the Cowboys whup the Chiefs at AT&T Stadium.

We've been out for a couple of weeks now. That relief that the boat is safely on the hard has been replaced with a little anxiety about pulling the engine tomorrow to allow some refurbishment over the winter season.

Genec, Sorry about your early stop to your season. I got fortunate and grabbed the 6 beautiful days at the end of October. Way to much fun. Now I am looking at the next 3 weeks of rain. Hope that the windows do not leak.. It would be a real spoiler.

Yeah, mine is dry inside... during the worst rains, I get about a tablespoon of water in the bilge... of course, like I said... tarps and all...

Yeah, there were a few really nice weeks... I went up and fiddled with the boat a bit here and there... was soooo tempted to bend on the sails one day... but I knew the forecast for the following days was rain... so I just messed around... in the boat... nothing wrong with that, eh? GRIN

Nothing at all wrong with boat time.

On my sail through Admiralty Inlet on the 29th someone took a photo of my boat. I recently found it on VesselFinder.com.

Guessing the person was on the south shore maybe a hill near Port Townsend as I was heading South East at the time having just left the strait and heading to Port Hudson for the evening. From the wake I was leaving it was a wild ride...

I hauled out a week ago but haven't put the cover on yet.

We had record cold the last few days, down to -10°C, so I'm glad I didn't wait any longer.
