Our front hatch is pouring water and I wanted to replace the gasket. Will any sponge gasket do? Do I need adhesive installation foam? Help!!

Contact the mfg.

Harold: I would suggest that you contact the mfg of the hatch. If you want to keep a water tight seal this is probably going to be the best bet. I think that they are molded gaskets. You can always try your idea, it is not going to be any worse that what you have now!

Hi Harold, Steve has a good suggestion...

I'm trying to remember what the gasket looked like on our H28. WM carries a replacement gasket that will fit most hatches. It is self adhering, round, black rubber type that I think will fit yours. Just be sure that the gasket slot is clean before installing. Terry

I used the west marine gasket too,

It has a sticky underside so you don't need glue. First I got the gasket from hunter. I asked them what glue to get. They told 3m superglue 402. Never could find it and asked is superglue would work. The guy at Hunter said yes.... BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! If you get it from Hunter get plain old gasket sealer from marine west. By the way the hatch is a crapy design!!!! There should have a lip or channel to keep the water out.
