Hoping some of my fellow Hunter 40 owners can provide me with some information. We are away from our boat and I need to shop for a replacement fridge, however, I cannot find the measurements I took of the existing one. I am hoping someone in the community can provide me with the size of the opening or dimensions of an original fridge that came with the older Hunter 40.

If anyone has replaced their fridge, and I would have to believe many have, I would be interested in any opinions on suitable replacements that slide in without too much modification.

Picture of existing fridge enclosed.

Thanks for any information you can help out with.

My '86 has a norcold DE 251D. I believe the dimensions are 18 1/2 x 21 x 21 1/2". I have given up on trying to replacing this unit and I am looking at turning the box in the counter to a frig. For a little more money I get three to four times the cu ft.

I believe you can find a replacement for your unit. I think the new unit is DE0751 but I can't find my old notes. Try Thetford.com.

I think that's where I looked.

I would suggest that you check out the Isotherm units. Especially the SP unit.

To all those following this thread, I thought it appropriate to provide a follow up to my initial question.

I have since replaced the fridge with an Isotherm Cruise EL 65 Elegance Refrigerator / Freezer. Happy to report it had the near identical measurements of the old original unit, it slid right in without any modifications. The frame around this fridge snuggled up against the cut out making for no finishing touches to be completed, a nice bonus as I wasn't expecting that.

After three weeks of sailing in the Pacific Northwest I am happy to report that my electrical usage is down and the fridge keeps everything nice and cool on a setting of 2 and a half. It is making ice cubes without problem and meats in the freezer are solidly frozen.
