1983 28 foot oday question. The boom connection to the mast just is a ball and socket set up that only seem to be connected to the mast by the main sail. Is that how the system is supposed to work? Thanks.

No, there are supposed to be a pair of clips to hold it all together, D&R Marine (www.drmarine.com) has the parts, or check Rig-Rite or another rigging suplier that carries ISOMAT spar parts. D&R is run by Rudy Nickerson, who used to be the Parts Dept. Manager for O'DAY, he is a pretty good expert on our boats. just remember, his store is a true "Mom & Pop".... just Rudy and his Wife usually, so a phone call to back up an on-line order is good advice, and a phone call will get faster response (usually!) than an e-mail.
