Yes, freshwater boats will have fewer issues with corrosion. NOrthern boats will have less wear and UV damage than southern boats... Great Lakes boats are often in far better shape than their Florida or Chesapeake counterparts.
Your post has absolutely NO DETAILS, so generallities is all you will get. Do you have any idea what it costs to move a boat? What size boat are we even talking about? I sold a fresh water boat that in hind sight I wish I had moved to salt, but I also bought a salt water boat and moved it back to the same fresh water I had left. Details will get you a much more meaningful response. Generally, a fresh water boat will be in better condition, ALL variables the same, than a salt water boat.
The equalizer is price. A good survey will ascertain the condition of the boat. The Florida boat market as far as selection and price is hard to beat. It is also open all year round.
While the PO is important, on things like standing rigging, the difference between salt water and fresh water boats is fairly significant. When it comes to the appearance of the boat, the difference between a northern boat and a southern one is also often quite significant—UV damage to gelcoat, woodwork, etc is often much lower on northern boats.

the top quarter of the Chesapeake Bay is basically fresh water(all-be-it brackish in many spots). Salt content begins at approximately Baltimore and becomes more salty the further south you progress. The Virginia portion is primarily salt water at ocean levels.
