My Hunter 310 fresh water tank has a slight crack and leak on top. Any idea of the proper caulk/sealant to use to stop the leaking?

If it's a plastic tank, prob'ly can't be mended

'Cuz nothing bonds permanently to polyethylene...it can only be heat welded (melt new poly and the the edges of the crack so that it all runs together), which is very hard to do without taking the tank out. But even if you could, the same forces that split the tank are still there, still trying to push the crack apart. So it's doubtful whether even weld would hold. So replacement is really the only good option.

Try 5200

If that won't fix it, I doubt there is anything that will...

5200 won't work...and you're right--

Nothing will. Some things may appear to bond, but it's only temporary because polyethylene is oily...gradually the bond lets go. It can take a week...it can take year...but it'll happen. And btw...5200, like bleach is, is WAY over-used and misused on too many boats...as people learn when they have to remove something that never should have been glued down permanently in the first place.

There is a hot air welder for plastic tanks. Most large R/V/ dealers repair shops should have one. Worth a try.
