Need to install fresh water tank on 79 cat 30 hull 999. There was no tank when I purchased boat. Any suggestions...where to find proper tank, upgrades to original tank or system? I'd like to put in new tank for cruising and a direct hook up to shore water supply to separate faucet in galley. any suggestions.
thanks Bill

On my 30', I have two tanks. One forward and one starboard. About 55 gallons total. Check with Catalina Direct for parts. Call them and they are helpful regarding parts for older boats. Good luck.

Bill,
Our 78' has the same setup as Bobs. Small tank under starboard settee and larger under the vberth. 2 fill hoses with the hoses running behind the hanging locker.

Are you sure your boat is a 79? Our hull on our 78 is 1179.

Could you give some more info on that? I've already found two companies called Ronco that sell plastic water tanks, but the 25 gallon sizes are around THREE hundred.

You need to talk to the guy(sorry I can't remember his name right now) but he's the one that has the office back by the shipping doors in the back of the facility. When you call up tell them that you want to talk to this person. Tell him it's a tank for a Catalina 30 and he will know exactly what you're talking about.
I suggest that you do call them and not use email to talk to this person I want to say his name is Steve but I'm not sure

Mine is a Catalina 30 1978 number 980

yep
Like I said give him a call and see what kind of deal you can make but you need to talk to the guy that has the office in the shop itself. He runs the manufacturing of these tanks. As I said they will build them per order we do not have these tanks in stock. But I know they can be made in one days time. I brought my old tank with me and they installed the new inspection plate and all the threaded fittings in the tank.

Ronco at this time these boats were manufactured was a supplier of all the water tanks for catalina and I believe the gray water tanks also. So they know which tanks go in which Catalina boats. I'm not sure about the later models but, they were the supplier of tanks for Catalina in our vintage models

Bill in my experience in fitting the tank under the seat and partially going underneath the forward side of the chart table. Tilting the tank and getting it in that open space underneath the chart table would've been tough if it was any larger. Now if you plan on moving the tank forward a little bit it might work but I would check the length of the tank in the opening. The B104 model is what came out of my 1978 Catalina 30 your tank my be located in a different position I don't know but I think a larger tank would be a very tight fit in my opinion

Make a long story short it was a tight fit and then I replaced the boards of fiberglass them in to hold the tank in place. Then I removed the tank and used white gelcoat over everything I even used white gelcoat in the forward storage locker in front of the tank in other words I did everything from the chart table and quarter berth forward with white gelcoat. It looks like a brand-new boat or as the boat should've looked when it was new.

By the way what was his name was it Steve or Scott? I'm terrible remembering names.

$145 sounds like a good deal to me does include shipping? At today's gas prices you probably got a better deal than I did if it includes shipping
