Fresh Water System Leaking Into Bilge

Has anyone had the problem of (cracked) leaking fresh water pipes on a Legend 43?

I have leaking piping from both the fwd and the mid water tanks. The fwd tank area stays completely dry so I know that leaking is coming from the tank piping going to the pump system and not the tank. Not sure about the midship tank. The leaking (cracked piping?) fills the bilge to the point of turning on the bilge pump. The previous owner must have forgotton to winterize the fresh water system one or more years. Regardless of which tank I disable, the bilge will still fill with fresh water use, although maybe not as fast when the midship tank is turned off to the system.

Does anyone have a routing diagram of the fwd and midship water tanks piping for a Legend 43, and/or know if all the lengths of the piping is accessible under the cabin floor? Also, has anyone ever pulled the floor board of which the refrigerator sits to expose the midship tank? How do you remove the floor board from under the refrigerator??

I know it’s not healthy to have water constantly in the main bilge. If I drain the bilge with the boat in the water and do not use the fresh water system the bilge stays perfectly dry so I know the water is coming from the fresh water pipes.

Hello,
I have much the same issue, but not much help for you. I think you are correct in believing the leak is down stream of the water pump, probably at a failed connection. I have remade a fitting and replaced the raw water flushing hose due to leaks I have a leak where poor winterization has caused a leak at the aft tank and the water going to the bilge. Unfortunately I have to take apart the whole aft cabin to remove the bulkhead to access the leak.
I have a diagram of the fresh water system for my boat in the owner's manual from Hunter. Here is a link to the manual for the 43 - http://sbo.sailboatowners.com/downloads/Hunter_43_46813099.pdf

Thanks for your reply splax. Were you able to stop the leak from your aft tank piping? Thanks for the online 43 manual, I have it in hard copy but it's now great to have it as a file. Where did you get the new fittings from?

On my legend 35.5 I found cracked tees and joints under the sink floor boards. I probably did a poor job of winterizing. They were all in the same place and they also leaked into the bilge. I would look around there while you run your pump.
