I am finally getting around to posting a follow-up to my original problem...back in September I posted a request for help in troubleshooting the original 1980 Shur-Flo water pump in my Hunter 33. The concensus (including comments from Shur-Flo) seemed to be "replace the pump". When I did get back to the boat to begin troubleshooting, I dismounted and totally disassembled the pump, as much out of curiousity as anything. What I found was not a worn out pump, but bone dry roller bearings causing the pump to bind and trip the breaker. There are two sets in the pump and after thoroughly cleaning them and then lubricating with Lewmar wench grease, I am back in business. I have gone through over 100 gallons of water since then, including running the pump continuously for over 10 minutes recently to empty the tank for winterization, with no problem. A very satisfying end to that problem.
