Fresh Water Leakage from cockpit

I'm starting to develop cockpit leakage via the engine access hatches and binacle pedestal. I've used leakfinder from West Marine and calked over joints which has reduced leakage but not completely. Since the cockpit floor is also an access hatch, I'm reluctant to seal/coat over everything. Leakage occurs only during rain; however I'm concerned about the lack of clean runoff to the stern drains and standing water eventually drips onto engine. Any ideas for a complete fix?

How often do you remove the cockpit lid that covers the engine. I am guessing that it is almost never. If this is the case, then I would suggest that you use butyl tape to seal it. You can use the same product to seal the feet of the binical/guard.

Be sure to review MaineSail's site on using fasteners with the butyl.
