I have a fresh water leak from the aft tank in my B373. The tank is located under the starboard lazarette and under the foot of the bed in the aft cabin.

Before I go tearing things up to clear the issue, has anyone had to work on their aft water tank, and can give me pointers on the best way to approach this?

It seems that I may be able to reach the outlet of the tank from the aft cabin as it is located on the forward part of the tank. But what about the inlet and vent that are located on the aft end of the tank?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had a leak in the aft water tank of my 361. Tried tightening all the hose clamps, etc with no luck. So drained the tank and removed it completely. Plugged all holes and filled it on the dock to find the leak in one of the seams. Was not repairable by a local plastic guy so needed to order a new one from Beneteau. This was not a normal problem and they offered me a deep discount on the replacement. New tank was slightly different than the old one but still fit properly.

Is it best to try and access it via the bottom of the starboard lazarette? It doesn't appear that it would be possible to remove it via the aft cabin.

Xavierlh1,

My 2008 Beneteau 373 also has a water leak, I cannot find it... Was the leak located in the aft tank? I have been looking for over one year, no luck...frustrated...

Yes, it very much appear to be in the aft tank. All hoses attach at the top as expected, and the leak continues even if the tank is not full. I also see water going in to the engine bilge from under the tank when the boat heels.

Unfortunately, the tank is under the starboard lazarette with sections stuck under the shower seat and the stern lazarette; it appears that removing the tank is going to be either or both very difficult and very expensive.

I'm hoping Beneteau USA monitors these threads and that this is covered by the boat warranty. I just bought the boat used last year, and while I don't remember checking whether both tanks had water, I suspect the aft tank was empty and I didn't notice the problem until I started using the boat.

I checked all valves, manifolds, lines wherever they're exposed, etc. and haven't found any issue. The water flows between the hull and liner, and resurfaces in the section of the bilge between the galley and chart table. As you correctly state, very frustrating...

I'm moving the boat from Washington where I bought it to Portland where I live, and will resume my attempts at resolving this once the boat is closer to home.
