I just installed a Katadyne fresh water filter on my Beneteau. I have two pumps (one is a back up ) the filter is the next best thing to a reverse osmosis filter. I will now be able to drink from the fresh water system with out worries. Unfortunately the accumulator does not seem to be working. The pump stays on and on and on. Both pumps run continuously. When I shut off the pump I have pressure in the hot water but none in the cold water. The cold water hose connects to copper at the faucet in the galley where I installed the self tapping fresh water filter feed. Any ideas or input would be helpful.

You must have done something when...

you installed the filter that's preventing either pump from priming. It can't pump water unless it can prime...your accumulator won't work nor will you have any cold water pressure if the pumps aren't pumping any water. You only have hot water because the hot water tank acts as an accumulator, but unless water is going into it, you're not gonna continue to get hot water either. That's the long way of saying, you have an air leak ahead of the pump. 99% of the time, when the pump can't prime, it's due to a failed diaphragm in the pump...but it's so unlikely that the diaphragm in BOTH pumps could fail simultaneously that I don't see how that could be your problem. It may be that the filter you've installed isn't suitable for marine plumbing...if it has any means of letting air in, it's definitely not. The only thing you can do is go back through the system and find out what isn't sealed. If you can't find anything, try taking the filter out again and see what happens.
