Fresh Water Circulation Pump Broke

I was out sailing on Friday. The wind died so I went to crank up the Iron Genny and it sounded horrible. I quickly cut the engine off.

It turns out that the pulley on the Fresh Water Circulating Pump froze up. I sailed part of the way home and a friend towed me the rest of the way.

I have already found a replacement part for it and I ordered it through a Kabota Dealership. I am going to try to replace it myself.

The only catch in the job is bleeding the antifreeze lines. Anyone have any tips, suggestions, or other information that might help?

Is that aa rubber impeller type or is it mroe like a car's water pump?

The freshwater recirculating pump

is not a rubber impeller pump, but I forget -- Hermit, don't you have a different engine than most C30s? Most C30 diesels are M25s or earlier versions. Yes his engine is different than mine. I have the manuals to mine (YSM-12) and a local supplier that has to smile everytime I walk in the door because of the prices they charge. Aparently there is a MSRP that no one seems to want to break. But I have also heard of people ordering parts online and when they received them they were made in china not japan. I'd rather pay more and know what I am getting.

My Engine is a M-25 XP. It is, basically, a Kobata Engine. That makes it really easy to deal with because I just find the part number (there is actually a list of Kobata Part Numbers on the C-34 web site) and then I go to the Kobata Dealership. That makes life nice.

I have ordered Yanmar parts from torreson marine, I thought their prices were good, service was good, and the parts were actual yanmar parts. I will use them for all my yanmar parts that I can, unless something changes

I tried torresen, but I am out of the territory. Blue water ship stores in Corpus Christi is who I buy them from now.

I am in the middle of installing the part. One huge tip...when ordering the part order the hose fitting that screws into the pump. I didn't do this because I thought that the piece from my old pump would fit but the one on the old pump was not threaded.

I think that I have found a set-up that may work because I couldn't seem to get the Kabota dealership to figure out what it was when I was speaking with them. I will keep you posted!

I have the boat up and running. It is working great and I have the lines bled out. I ran it for 30 minutes and it didn't get above 160 degrees.
