With the changes in freon to the more environmentally friendly freon, I would have to say yes. It is important to know what freon is in the unit, what freon is compatible with what is there and then you need to have the proper equipment to charge the system and check for leaks.We had a freind on a Hunter 40.5 with a poor cooling icebox stop by our marina as they were headed South from Oregon to San Diego. We were able to locate a local refrigeration tech. and with$50 and about 2 hour later, they were on their way. No problems since they left.
