We have a 2004 Hunter 426 and the Waeco/Dometic RFP-50 Freezer just failed. No compressor and no fitting to check it out. Does anyone know if a tech manual or replacement parts/units are available? It is a front opening model 1.8 cu ft DC only model. The opening is 13.5" tall, 15.5 wide and 15" deep. What does Hunter or anyone else recommend? Would like to repair it or if not possible, replace with a better freezer that has a tech manual and can be serviced if necessary. Thanks Mick

I have the same unit and I'm sure there is a compressor in there behind the freezer. Notice there is a step in the top of the overhead and I'd expect the mechanical components are in there. I would recommend pulling the unit out and have an A/C guy come and inspect it.
Ok, thanks all, we did pull the unit out and there are no compressor (refrigerant) service ports and difficult to find a tech manual or help line number. Will try and locate a Waeco (now Dometic) Coolmatic hotline to call/
Can you not find a local boat refrigeration service (other than WAECO)? It doesn't have to be an OEM service tech. We have a number of fridge experts around here, none of whom is WAECO but all are qualified to work on them.
IIRC, the industry removed the Shrader valves when they went to R-134a to dissuade DIY-ers.
