Any thoughts on cleaning this cabin out? The dust is really thick and heavy. I'm thinking water won't be a great Idea but could I get away with a high pressure washer?

Whoo, that's dusty! Was it parked beside a dirt road or something?! I think I'd go at it with a shop vac on the inside, and be sure to wear a respirator! Outside maybe a leaf blower or pressure washer.

It was parked along a field and dirt road on a farm. It had a tarp on it but it was never replaced when it blew off. Shop vac won't work by its self. It need some moisture of some kind. Where would water in the cabin drain to? Simple green seems to work good but I might go broke buying terry cloth towels.

Take everythng that isn't tied down out. Shop vac out what you can. I used a sump pump in the bilge but if it has a bilge pump I would get that running and then use a pressure washer. The pressure washers don't use a lot of water and the bilge should keep up. I did that on the Luger 30. Yours looks like mostly dirt and not mold which is a plus.

More than a few posts regarding hull, deck and interior cleaning, mention my all time fave; TSP and bleach.

At the level of filth seen in this post, I'd start with a garden hose nozzle - full pressure - and see what water alone can drop. Any small utility pump (Simer, bilge, even a siphon) will remove most of what gets into the bilge - or the cabin - probably both.

Savorin, among others, makes TSP (available at HD or Lowe's or ACE) which is ~ $5.00 a pound and a is a non-sudsing detergent with incredible cleaning power. Extremely alkali but no where near lye/Draino. Of itself it is extremely anti-bacterial but with a splash of bleach, would kill mold from a block away ;)

I'd hose it down until what water alone can't remove - is all that's left on the surface. Soft car-cleaning brush on the gallon of warm water + 1 cup of TSP + 1/2 cup of bleach and watch the filth run down the surface(s).

Rinse with hose spray and let the bilge/cabin pump run wild.

The stuff leaves no "soap" slime and despite it's cleaning power, rinses easily.

Air dry for a day or two an voila - dirt gone!

Of course everything not nailed down or painted surface, should be removed - but you already knew that ;)

So we have the before pics. Let's see some "during" and "after" shots, S.V.P.

I'd want to keep the bow high to prevent water from getting under the cabin floor. It is hard to get out once it gets under there. It can only enter on the right side, the front, left and rear are sealed with a single layer of glass to connect the floor to the hull.

Trying to stop any water from getting under the cabin is like herding cats.

Whether it's a pint or 20-gallons, water will always be capable of getting in there.

The issue is not stopping it from getting there.

It is to get it out - once it gets in.

There is a litany of solutions as to how to accomplish - that on this site.

Because most corn-fed C22s don't have a bilge pump, a big adz sponge with a hose and bucket or perhaps a Wet/Dry shop vac would be cheapest.
