Does anyone know which shroud is longer on a 1979 S2 9.2C, the forward or the aft shroud? I failed to mark them before I unstepped the mast. I am replacing all the standing rigging and would like to know. According to the owners manual there is a difference. Thanks in advance for any help

Forgive my question but do you mean forestay and backstay?
Lower shrouds can be forward or aft.
I think the best way to replace standing rigging is to use the existing standing rigging to measure the new. I took mine to the rigger and got an exact replica of the existing.
Standing rigging is not a place for guess work.

Sorry I failed to mention, it’s the LOWER forward and aft shrouds. . According to the owner manual they different in length. Upon delivery to the rigger I told him that I didn’t mark the lower shrouds but he assured me that they were the same length

You could verify equal length by stretching a line straight out from the mast base perpendicular to the center line of the boat. Connect either the port or starboard shrouds to their correct stations on the deck and verify that they meet together at the perpendicular center line of the mast position. Note the results in your manual or ask that the originals be returned if unconvinced.

Not sure if you are in the S2 Facebook group, but it is pretty active. I posted your question there just in case:
