I sail in the Chesapeake Bay, which is mostly mud and I never have a problem setting my Fortress but not much luck in grass. What I really apprecriate about the anchor is its weight. I get the holding power of a much bigger anchor in just 13lbs, making it easy to handle by myself. And most times I can break it away without using the engine. I have two little tricks that I use which seem to make it easier to set==> First make sure the flukes are pointing inward (toward the bow) as you lower it into the water and second don't let extra scope out until the anchor is set. Lower the anchor to the bottom and about two more feet of rode, then reverse the engine. You will see/feel the anchor hold. Then I let out my extra scope and reverse again. Good Luck, Jane "Echo"
