Many years ago, I was visiting an investor. On his conference room wall was a super tanker photo. Since I figured that was out of their sandbox, I asked him about it. They had some cash and the market for super tankers had crashed. They bought this one for scrap, but did a couple of spot buys and it was doing very well financially. They were way ahead and had found a way, serendipitously, to play the commodities market without any middleman.
