Forestay tension

We put the mast up on my new (to me) hunter 310 and everything went together nicely. We followed the B&R tuning instructions and got to what seems ok. The only thing is that there doesn't seem to be much tension on the roller reefing forestay. I'm new to fractional rigs and B&R rigs so am wondering if this is normal or if I should be doing something to increase the tension.

Thanks

Tim, there are sailors at Britannia and NSC with Hunters that tune their own rigging and I'm sure could advise you after looking at the boat.

The forestay will set the tension on the rest of the rigging. If the forestay is not tight enough the stays will not have enough tension either.

It will all balance out, if you want to increase the tension evenly just crank down the forestay, they will all tighten up together. Once the mast rake is set and side stays balanced increase the tension on the forestay to evenly tension the rigging.

Good luck, Bob

Thanks Bob

The problem is that the forestay is a Furlex type A roller furling and I can't find anywhere to adjust the tension. Maybe someone else with this model furlex will chime in.
