Forestay size for H26

Hi guys,
I need to get a new forestay for my H26 with a CDI furler. The rigger was thinking, that considering the size and purpose of this boat that a 5/32 forestay would makes things easier to assemble as the 3/16 swaged end won't pass through the extrusion. The wire would need to be passed through and swaged after.
The 5/32 should pass straight through.
Just wondering if the loss of breaking strength would be a bad idea or just a terrible idea, lol.

Thanks,
Dee

A rigger recommended that I go with Sta-lok or a similar fitting for this reason. With this, you'd just be passing the bare wire through the furler and then installing the fitting afterwards. Ask the rigger to teach you how to install it. It seems daunting but once you get it, it's really easy. Ask for some scrap wire to practice on

Thanks for that. I had thought about the same. Swaged on the top and Sta-lock on the drum end. Glad it worked out for you. I was concerned that there might be enough room for it near the furling drum. Was that also on a Hunter 26?
