I have a 78' Hunter 30. could someone tell me the forestay length? The boat came without standing rigging.

Buying new forestay or furler?

I saw your other post Debra. No standing rigging came with the boat? You should not "swag" the lengths of your stays and shrouds, there is not that much leeway in the adjustment(turnbuckles) to be inaccurate. What if someone has changed the mounting for example. There have to be a lot of H30s in your area. Maybe you could get some measurements from one exactly like yours. I assume your mast is horizontal somewhere off the boat making it impossible to get the dimensions from your own boat. A very good rigger might have the lengths from previous work. But weren't there two masts for the H30, like a "tall" rig? And if you are going to install a furler for the headsail that changes things. Some furlers replace the wire headstay with their own solid furling rod. Good luck.

You can still measure things when the mast is down. Simply measure I from the base of the mast at deck level to the forestay fitting point at the masthead and then get on the boat and measure J as a horizontal (level) line from the front of where the mast SHOULD be to the point directly above the forestay fitting. Then -- see my response(s) to the other forestay length question.
