Hi: I'm sailing my Beneteau 361 home from the British Virgins. My question pertains to what size Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) can be stored on the foredeck of a Beneteau 361 during an ocean voyage. I don't want to tow my dink while I'm at Sea. Also, has anyone stored a deflated RIB in the lazarette? I need to buy this new probably from West Marine. What models have worked for others? Thanks

Achilles LSI

Paul I too have 361 but have never placed the dinghy on deck. I have an Achilles LSI-104 which is fully inflatable, including the floor. Achilles come with a case that would be convenient for your needs and I wouldn't see any issues with it on the foredeck as long as you can tie it down tight enough to prevent the sheets from hanging up on it. Between the baby stay and the mast would be my choice as it should be out of the way and you'll be able to use the cabin top grab rails to help secure it. Good luck with your decision and trip. No RIB for me without davits

Hi Paul, During an ocean voyage, I want a clean deck. I don't want a RIB on deck, specially not on foredeck (maybe under the boom if I have no other choice). RIB are great to ride but I don't want a RIB if I don't have davits to store that RIB. In your place, I would probably buy a collapsible inflatable and store it in the lazarette during offshore passages. I think that Mike made a very good choice with his Achilles LSI-104 (good quality, right size, inflatable floor, easy to store). When you say that you don't want to tow your dink while you're at sea, you are 110% right!!!

9 foot inflatable

Hi Paul, we have a 9' inflatable and it rests the engine bracked between the front hatch and the baby stay. It has a flat nose so perhaps a 10' with pointed tip would fit but 9 sits really nice. Sheets go easy over but you can't get to the anchor. most of the time we towed ours but we have sailed with it upfront as well have a great trip Gaute
