yes have a boat that needs a sail must be serviceable or at least repairable dont care what color.
teaching the kids how to sail so they can have fun with it
After watching sails on ebay sell for more than I was willing to pay for a recreational sail. I asked this forum what makes a good makeshift sail. I was given the link for "polysail". there was enough info on their site that I just bought a white uv protected tarp and with some twosided outdoor carpet tape some rope and some gromets (cringles) in two hours I made my own sail. Not just a triangular piece of tarp, it has a nice shape (belly). I feel it would be a great learning expierience for the kids. I feel good as I'm sailing thinking to myself "I made this sail" All in all I've got about $40 and two hours into the sail. The feeling of doing it myself is priceless.

I wonder if their kits will make a sail large enough for a 25' O'Day? For $100, I would love to see if I could make a sail. Although they say you do not need to sew the seems, I know I would anyway.
sewn my own sail as well.
There is a freeware software program called Sailcut that I used for the design.
Something of a log on the progress here:
