After two seasons of no hot water, I found an easy method to bleed the heating lines off the engine by attaching a washing machine hose to the boiler drain that I installed as a bleed valve on the line and connecting it to a water supply off the boat. I removed the TCV last year because it was non-functional. I ran the engine for 15 minutes - no hot water. There was water in the tank but I couldn't a rise in temperature. Anyone have any suggestions.

Simple, the engine needs to run, at cruising speed, for at least 30 minutes to get the water in the domestic hot water tank hot. It's a heat exchanger. The only way to get water hot quicker is when you're plugged in.

I have not connected it to power source. I this a mistake? If not, then I guess that I will have to run it a cruise for the time you suggest and see.

Thanks for the help.
