So I was filling up my diesel tank this evening and when I had the new tank built I had it made just a tad smaller for better access to fittings. This evening the tank took more fuel than it was calculated to take? Hmm is the marina ripping me off?

Nope, I am an idiot, and read the 35 gallons on my old tank as US gallons because all it said was "Gallons - 35". My calculations were correct on the new reduced tank volume but our original 35 gallon tank was IMPERIAL GALLONS not US GALLONS. So the original fuel tank was really 42 gallons not 35 gallons and why it took more fuel than it should have..

BTW I am not the only one. Most every US listing on Yacht World also has it wrong.. When in doubt just open the darn manual!!!!

I got a nice little gift today as we went from 83 gallons of fresh water to 100 gallons and from 32 gallons of waste to 38 gallons.. I also have more fuel than I thought! No wonder we can never run the water tanks dry or fill the holding tank. The water just keeps going and going now I know why...

So if you own an Canadian built boat like a C&C, CS, Tanzer, Hughes, Mirage, Grampian, Aloha, Paseship, Bayfield, Nonsuch Niagra etc. etc. check to see if your boat was rated in Imperial or US gallons for tankage...

This is a full Doh':doh::doh::doh:for me!!! Funny thing is most every US CS owner I know thinks the specs are what I did.....

So by me owning a US boat I'm getting ripped off.... ;)

Try throwing metric conversions in the mix as our gas / diesel is sold by the litre....
