Hi All,

I have a liferaft that can't get maintenance, so I got the pump out of it.
The pump works but leaks where the photo shows.

What glue do you recommend.
The base of the pump is 'hard'
the pump material where you press on is 'soft'

Thank you

If you don't want to use a hose clamp, then I would try Gorilla Contact Adhesive Clear Grip glue. I have used it with very good success. However there are some plastics that it is not recommended, and rubber is not one of the materials it claims to bond. But I would give it a try.

That pump is 41yrs old. It was never meant for more than topping up a life raft whose pressure has changed from temperature. It was never designed to have an operable life longer than a few weeks. It also is meant to be operated by hand, not foot. It won't inflate a dinghy to any significant pressure or in any practical time.

Just throw it away and get a pump you can use.

I would use shoe glue available at box stores.
As mentioned above you can buy hand pump that is reliable.

I just realized you said this is for a life raft - why are you trying to save this pump? Are you trying to save a life raft that can't be serviced? Are you just trying to use the pump? What's your end goal?

The clamp will have a metal edge, which I would not be keen on having around as something to cut someone or the dinghy.
Clamps do not have sharp edges. They are designed to not have them so that they don't cut into the hoses they are clamping.

Cheap hardware store clamps do have sharp edges. Good quality clamps that you and I use on our boats do not have sharp edges.

Let me rephrase,
This is from a lifeboat.
I just want it to sit on the Rubber Zodiac Avon Dinghy so I can use it to top up if needed.
I have two other excellent pumps but they are big, I also have a battery operated pump on the boat.

I'd prefer to glue it instead of clamping it.
