1)Could you compare the + & -'s of the max-prop to the martec and autoprop? 2)Is a correctly sized 2 blade as effecient as a three blade? 3)What is the longevity of the PSS shaft seal and what maintenance needs to be done to it over the course of it's expected life?

Comparison

Dear Mr. Wallace: Thank you for your note and questions. To compare each of the three propellers you asked about, I'm afraid that my opinions will come across favoring my own product the Max-Prop. There are certain feature’s that each of the three units has which are unique to it’s self and not the others. Material choice, bearings or no bearings, methods of adjustment and the list can go on. So to be fair to the other company’s involved and to make sure you have all the tools needed to make a informed decision, I would like to suggest that you allow my sales team and the other two competitors to provide you with that information. A three bladed propeller is almost always 30+ % more efficient then a two blade. This does not mean however that the three blade will produce 30% more speed. It mean's that when confronted with heavy winds or seas the vessel which is equipped with a three blade will not loose as much speed as the vessel which is equipped with the two blade. The PSS should have a running life of apx. 20,000 hours. Maintenance requires that each time the vessel is removed from the water and put back in, the seal needs to be burped to allow water back into the stern tube. Other is the usual tightening of the hose clamps and set screws periodically. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
