I am about to begin building a fold-down table similar to the tables I have seen in photos of other Oday 25s (the previous owner removed it when he rebuilt the interior). However, I thought it would be good to find out from those of you who use it if the design needs any improvements. Is it tall enough or stable enough? If you could redo yours, what might you change? Or, is there a better table out there, perhaps a stand-alone folding table that would work better than hinging one to the bulkhead. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Add storage on the bulkhead.

Lang, If you do not have the pull-out double berth (starting in 79) Build a storage unit for the bulkhead that is about 6" deep. Then attach the table to the storage unit. The storage unit is great for paper towels, paper plates cups and stuff. The table is also pushed out 6" so that it seats 4 people better. I did this on my first O'Day 25 (1978) and was very happy with it. When I bought the 79, I could not put in the storage unit because that berth pulls out into a double and the storage unit would have shorted the berth. My wife didn't like the idea of the storage unit not being there because it was so useful. I have a digital of it and will try to up load it but I think the size is to big to post. I have no means of reducing the size of the file. r.w.landau

folding table

I have a 78, and the table looks just like r.w.'s (so do the cushions) I like the storage berth concept, but I don't have it. For what it's worth, the standard table on my 78 works great, although most of the time we eat in the cockpit. It's much easier to clean, especially with my messy crew.:) Later Alan

Thanks for table advice

Thanks for the photo of the storage area. I had not considered that. And yes I am on Lake Arthur. I have an off-shore mooring there. I bought the boat last fall in Michigan and trailered it home. As soon as the sun stays out long enough I'm going to apply the vinyl letters for its new name -- Windchillin' Lang
