Has anyone modified the companionway "sill" traveler setup to a flying trav set about 2/3 to 3/4 forward over the companionway sliding cover? I find the factory default location kinda in the way. The Catalina 27 next to me seems to have a more out of the way set up with its flying trav. I thought I could use the exisiting turnaround on the boom as the aftmost and install 2 more "anchors"/turn-arounds about 1 and 2.5 ft forward. Might give me a 5-1 ratio. If anybody has tried something like this I'd like to hear how good it works for you. Jim McCue s/v Safeharbor

I agree completly. The travler in front of the companionway is the best way to scare off my guests. Nobody seriously injured yet. I am also thinking of making a similar change. I will let you know what I find out.

Check with the hardware mfg.

If you guys check out the archives you will probably find many posts on this subject. I personally know that they folks at Harken are very helpful and have excellent products (at a price). I have heard that Garhauer may be able to help you out too (at a much better price).
