A general question please, what can people recommend for flushing through the freshwater tank? There seems to be a few theories on best chemicals/ treatments on the internet. CheersJeremy

“Add 1 teaspoon of any 5.25 percent solution of sodium hypochlorite—such as Clorox, Purex, Sani-Chlor, Hy-pro or Super-X—to every 5 gallons of freshwater. Let it sit with the cap off your tank for at least 30 minutes so that the chlorine has a chance to work and the fumes dissipate.”

I use a half liter or so of bleach, then full the tank full, pump the galley pump until I smell beach, let it sit overnight and then flush a whole bunch of times. It takes a while and I don’t do it often, maybe every other year. Our town water has a low concentration of chlorine and my tanks are usually good. The missus sometimes complains about what she calls “fuzzies” floating in her glass but I tell her to strain them out through her teeth and stop complaining.

Thanks Nico. Bleach sounds like a nice easy solution. Not too sure about the water quality in Portugal (the wine is of a higher standard and nearly as cheap).

Add bleach to water and fill the tank. Run the taps to be sure the bleach mixture sits in the lines. Let sit for 24 hours. Drain and fill/drain until the bleach smell is gone. Often the lines are worse than the tank but get ignored.

Lyric has two bow tanks. One of which was leaking. We stuffed it with full of box wine bladders when we went to Mexico. We loved Mexico but not their wine!    Walt To: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.comFrom: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.comDate: Mon, 18 May 2015 19:05:50 +0000Subject: Re: [AlbinVega] Flushing through the Freshwater Tank
