What is the best way to flush the rc8? Can I run water through the water jacket w/o having the engine running? I have read about marsolve and salt-x. Has anybody used these? I am concerned there is blockage due to rust and salt build up. I have been told that white vinegar will disolve salt deposits. I have some stuff called CLR that is used for household purposes. Can I use this stuff? Will reaming the water jacket with a wire do any damage? Any ideas would be a help. Thanks

Pump from a bucket

The Renault's are rare enough, I'll answer from my Yanmar experience: During my winter antifreeze flush, I take off the hose from the through-hull at the water pump (it's hard to get the other end off the thru-hull.) Then I put on a second hose at the pump, and immerse its other end in a bucket of flushing solution. Then I start the engine, and pump until the exhaust shows the flushing fluid only. I suppose the same idea will work with your Renault. With a fresh water boat, though, I have no experience with your question about flushing for salts and deposits. The flow through our engine looks good when we check it at start-up. David Lady Lillie
