Flow back and pump handle

A question for you all - I'm still getting a bit (up to four inches) of flowback into the toilet bowl after careful pumping. For the record, the holding tank is above the toilet so I'm pumping uphill and I replaced the joker valve. Also, it is not coming from the fresh water side as I've closed the sea cock and it still happens. It appears that the amount of flowback and the speed is effected by where I leave the pump handle. If pushed all the way in, it is a problem. If I leave it out about three inches, there is little or no flowback. Does this make any sense to anyone? Is it possble for liquid to be trapped in the pump itself (before the joker valve) and that is what is settling back into the toilet? Any cures? As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dave

One more thing

And the vent is open as I checked it this weekend. Thanks, Dave

Sounds like whatever is left in the hose

is seeping back downhill into the bowl. The joker valve won't prevent that, it'll just slow it down and prevent solid waste from getting back into the bowl. A good reason to make sure you flush enough to make sure that water is the only thing left in the hose between the toilet and the tank.
