This past weekend, a 3yr old drowned while he and his father were out on Lake Jocassee in South Carolina. Both were wearing life jackets. The boy got hung up in the rigging when the boat was hit by a gust of wind, flipped and sunk. The boat was 11 feet long. My question is what kind of flotation is in a Hunter 240? Where is it? Would the boat stay afloat if knocked down or over?

There is floatation in the bow of the 240. It would be hard to actually sink one of these things. You could swamp it sure, but it wouldn't likely go to the bottom. I am surprixed that an 11-footer sank. It's very hard to sink small boats.
