How many square feet of flotation foam is specified in original design? Or number of flotation pounds? Which wells were used for foam flotation? What type, and do you know best place to purchase?
What you need is USCG-approved buoyancy foam. I'm not sure how much comes in a stock boat, but the only place I know of to buy it from is here: http://boatbuildercentral.com/products.php?id=56&buoyancy .
I'm curious as to why you would remove the big block under the cockpit. Unless it's breraking apart or covered in mold - why no just leave it?I'm adding foam peanuts in heavy duty (woven poly) contractor bags to the areas beneath the cockpit seats in my 22. There seems to be sufficient space to add about 12 cubic feet of lift. I don;t use the space anyway. This is in addition to the foam block under the cockpit floor as well as the collection of blocks under the V berth.Richard
