Florida's "Big Bend"

I am currently researching sailing from the Florida West Coast to the Panhandle (between Fall 2002/Spring 2003). I'm ok from Port Richey to the Suwannee, but from the Suwannee River to the west side of Apalachee Bay is a bit of a stretch. Single handing I average 30 to 40 nm a day and would prefer to make that leg a two day passage. I have a 2.5' draft. Currently I'm working from cheap U.S. Chart Series charts, and before getting serious about this and investing more I'd be interested in hearing from those with experience in these waters.
