I am up safe in NY and had decided not to head back to our home in SW Florida
and so glad we are staying.
Been in touch with most our friends and they have all decided to leave for safer locations and secured their boats as best they can but with Mandatory Evacuations
have decided to leave and not stay, the storm is so bad and they say when they were there during Charlie in 2004 were so bad and Irma so much worse and a surge was not that bad but Irma elected to have very bad surges.
My boat is secured as best it can be and hoping for the best.
God help Florida.

Smart move Nick. We had a vacation planned for Williamsburg Va a year ago so here we are. The boat probably won't survive and if it does it will have severe damage and take forever to repair. At least we are safe.

I called all insurance providers just to be on the safe side and yes does not look good for
A lot of boats and most have evacuated away from water surge.

I wish you all the best, I am currently up North and gonna miss this. We will come back down as soon as the Gument allows (they usually resrict access for a few days to clear live wires).
Our place in port Charllotte with boat in the back is set to take a real beating this time. Same as you guys in PGI...

God Bless and take care

Nick,
I have been thinking about you while watching the hurricane coverage on TV. Glad to here you are safe in NY. Hope your boat survives with minimal damage. This storm is a nightmare!

Like you Nick we aren't there, but things don't look good. Irma just north of Naples as I write this and the center projected to go right over Cape Coral, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte over the next couple hours. On this track the Endeavour in the yard is about 6 miles west of the projected path. Over the past 12 hours the path has been west of and then right over and now just a little east of the yard.

3 of our friends have been living in the yard working on their boats and as of last night were planning on staying in the yard. I don't think that is a wise idea and the yard is in a mandatory evacuation area. Hope they left. Hope we know more in a couple days as to the outcome.

Still Dottie's and my problems having the boat there are small compared to you guys that have homes there or other places in the past/present/future path of Irma. The best to you and all of them,

Sumner

We heard from our friend on our canal and said all boats looking pretty good and my son said our house all good.
We will be packing today and heading home tomorrow in our RV.

We are about 50 miles north of PG in Lakewood Ranch. Pretty much a non-event here as well as Sarasota marinas. Only the idiots who tied their lines tightly close to a dock or piling experienced some damage. Common sense....

Worried about my cousin who was on Cudjoe Key. Anyone heard anything about when they might get power or cell coverage back?

Sounds like things went well at our boatyard and no real damage to any boats there. A tree went down but that was it. Very lucky and hope that is the case for people living in the area,

It sure looks like we dodged the bullet on this one.
No real boat or house damage and no water over the sea wall.
Gotta thank the good Lord.
We are located in the Charlotte Beach, Edgewater area (Port Charlotte).

Monday, At 1:20 EDT, the FoxNews channel said there is no fuel, water electric, cell service in most of the Keys. They have to inspect all bridges before they let anyone come back.

Cudjoe is badly damaged and access is slow, lots of debris. I have a friend with a place there, they bugged out and can't get back in. Hopefully everyone evac'd.

There were a group of them that stayed although they moved to something constructed since the 70's and not made totally of wood.

Just heard via sat phone that my cousin, pets, and house survived. The non boater who took the call said "the boat not so much." Glad he's ok, but the boat was a beautiful Corsair 31. Hope It is repairable.
