your world, not the rest of ours...

Hey Dan, your area may be gravy but you should either go inland or actually LIVE in one of the "limited" areas. Your perspective will change, I assure you. No offence intended but if you actually traveled to Coco Beach, Punta Gorda/Charlotte Harbor and Santa Rosa county you'd see a different world. I work with the Red Cross and have been to these areas, they are war zones.

I'm going

Took my boat down to Jacksonville earlier this year. I'm going down in November to go cruising. The usual, all along Florida to Miami and then the Bahamas. I don't think we should change just because of some disruptions. If you expect to stay in a marina every night you might have problems but most cruiser don't do that. If you don't go this winter do you think it'll be better next year or maybe the year after. Go now.

Dan....whats your thoughts on this track?

http://www.weatherunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200411_5day.html Given the high dollar real estate along this track I'd be re-verifying my slip reservations in another week or so... It just keeps getting better and better... Anybody in California wanna trade a hurricane for a couple of earth quakes???

I can tell you it is a WAR ZONE! We lost our house and our boat, a C30. We went from living on the Gulf of Mexico to living in a travel trailer. although not widely known there were almost 200 killed in Ivan. marinas on Pensacola Beach were completely destroyed. some to the point where there is not a single piling standing. all the neighborhoods along the water look like trash dumps with sofas, tables, frigs, etec, etc, littering the road side. I10 bridge crossing Escambia Bay was taken out! it reopened last week, one lane traffic only. the road (Gulf Blvd aka 399) from Navarre Beach to Pensacola beach was washed out. people on the beach were using 4wh drives and tractors to get to their property. needless to say boats are a scattered everywhere. this area extends from Destin, Fl to Gulf Shores, Al. aka the Redneck Rivera!
