I presently have a 37' Hunter in Florida and would like to move it to San Carlos, Mexico. I do not have the time or experience to sail through Panama, so I am going to put it on a truck. Is it possible to have it shipped directly to Mexico or will I have to ship it to San Diago and sail it down. Has anyone had any experience with this type of trip. (Who does the trucking, and How much?) and any unexpected surprises. Thank-You Steve

Truckin' to windward

Dec. 27, 2000 Dear Steve, Plenty of boats are shipped from your area to the west coast and the Boat Movers is one company you can contact. Check the yellow pages for the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas for others and get quotes. If the transfer can be co-ordinated with a return load so the truck doesn't have to return empty the costs are reduced. You can ship the boat directly to San Carlos but I would recommend that you are at the border for the crossing and at San Carlos for the unloading.
