Floorboards

Some of the floorboards in my 2007 Hunter 41DS are stuck. Normally I just have to lift them by pulling with my index finger in the hole provided. After this winter they appear to have swelled and I cannot lift them. Eddie Breeden at Hunter suggests that I leave on the A/C to de-humifiy the boat. It has not been particularly hot or humid on Long Island so far this season. I left the A/C on but have not yet returned to the boat to see if the boards are now removable. Any suggestions?

Go to Home Depot and buy a suction disk that has a handle on it. They our great for pulling up floor boards or using as a grip when you clean the side of the hull. ( Westmarine also carries them, more money)
Westmarine type

Use candle wax on the edge of the boards to reduce future sticking.

Leave them out.

When I leave my H376 for a while I pull the floorboard over the bilge. Since I'm plugged in, I always have a 12" fan (110v) left on to move air in the cabin. I think it helps keep the bilge "funk" down too.

Good luck. Bob

You could tie a piece of line to a short piece of dowel that is a little smaller in diameter than the finger hole, then push the dowel thru the hole, let it turn sideways, then pull on the line to remove the floorboard.

Good fix to Floorboard Access Doors

I had a similar problem last year on my H34. This was caused by moisture in the bilge.

Over the winter, I removed the access "doors" and notices that there was an edge-molding around the perimeter that was lose. It allowed the "floor access door" to swell and not fit tight. I removed the door and allowed it to dry, I removed the edging, re-glued it and clamped it and nailed it with small stainless nails.

Then I sanded the bottom and urethaned just the bottom. It now fits great, comes out when I want it by simply lifting the recessed pull loop and it doesn't swell up any more.

Good luck!
