The wood strip which holds up the floor hatch near the bottom of the companionway stairs has come loose. I reconnected it, using new holes and screws, but it broke loose soon again. This is a high traffic area. Is there a strong adhesive or should I try something else? Appreciate all recommendations and responses.

Same Problem

Same thing happened on my 1983 H34. I haven't tried fixing the cleat that holds the floor board up, but I scrounged around on the boat and found a combination of old boards that just fit between the top of the keel bolt there and the bottom of the wider floor board. Now the removable hatch is resting on this. I know this isn't the right solution, so I'll listen in for a better option. Thanks, Gary

My repair,

I used a pressure treated 2x4 as a brace between the top of the bilge and the bottom of the original bracing, check to see if that will work for you. I put mine in fore and aft, not across.
