Can anyone tell me what the function is of the hatch in the floorboards, located between the galley and the aft cabin in the H340? Is it a storage area or does it give you access to something? Thanks for the help.
Best use I've found after 3 years with the 340 is for wine bottles. <grin> What other boat has such a wine celler? Works great. If you really wanted another answer, I think it was meant for storage of any kind.
Mine is so warped it makes a good burglar alarm. I know every time someone gets up to use the "facilities" as it is always stepped on. By the by I am trying to replace it however the dealer is having problem obtaining a new one(new boat, go figure). Thanks!
If this is the small hatch in front of the stove, like we have on our 336, we sweep dirt, sand, dog hair and whatever else into it while we are away from the dock and then vacuum it out when we get to port and 110V. We've not been able to figure a better use for it. Maybe we'll try the wine cellar approach.
I can fit a few bottles of good Merlot in there. We even had a 1.5 liter bottle in there during a recent trip. Mine doesn't squeak either but the floor in the aft cabin (Stateroom) used to squeak. While having a glass of wine, I removed it and rubbed candle wax around the edges reinstalled it and got rid of the squeak.
Wayne has a great idea to rid the floor of the squeak. Expecially note that he applies the wax while drinking the wine. Nice touch. The idea is also much appreciated. However if one drinks enough wine from the wine cellar, one does not notice the squeak.
