I'm starting to layout the interior of my ODay 20. The interior was completely stripped prior to me. I have a source for free foam billets that are 4'x4'x6'. These are the leftovers from a company that molds foam products. At the end of the production run, they clean out the molds and the excess end up as these big blocks. We can cut these blocks with an electric powered wire stretched in a bow. This is probably not the sort of thing that OSHA should ever see, but it works pretty well. The trick is to cut on the vertical, as the cut pieces will glue back together when still hot.

My question is, was there any floatation foam originally in the Oday 20's?

Toddco - I'm not sure about the earlier 20's (up to 1977 I think) but my 1979 20 definately has a lot of foam. It is located:

1. Under the entire cockpit (fyi I removed some of mine from the forward part of the cockpit because it was rotten and smelly but in hindsight I think I should have replaced it because I think it adds a bit of support to the cockpit floor - now whenever I walk right in front of the cabin hatch I hear a bit of "creaking" - I never used to prior to removing the foam)

2. Under the cushions on both sides of the boat, in the compartment that have the liftup wood covers.

3. Forward of both the sink and ice box - into the v-birth area. I don't think the earlier models had an ice box on the starboard side though.

There may be more under the forward part of the v-birth but that area is inaccessible to me so I'm not sure!

Hope that helps....

Mark

Thanks Mark!
I can get a lot of foam and currently I have none. I'll load up every void.
