Flexiteek Repair

I have a 2006 Hunter 45 CC, ans it has the "Flexiteek" on the exterior steps to the cockpit, as well as on the swim step. The black colored caulking around some of the edges is gone, and I need to repair these areas. The actual Flexiteek is still in good condition, and has not come loose, but probably will if the edges are not re-caulked. My question is what type and brand of caulking is recommended by either Hunter or the manufacturer. Perhaps someone out there has already done this before.
Thanks,
Jeff

I had to do similar project a few years ago except that it involved the Flexitek not holding down too.

Check the archives as there are several good posts with all the information you will Ned. Helped me a lot.

I installed some Isiteek on my boat last year (which is Flexiteek sold for DIY installation). The black caulk that they ship with the product is Bostik 940 FS High Performance Marine Grade Adhesive and Sealant. The adhesive used to join the strips of Isiteek to each other is a product called Stelmax 1985 Adhesive which is apparently from the UK and I can find no US equivalent. The adhesive used to affix the actual product to the deck is Bostik Hybrid Moisture Cure Adhesive/Sealant. I believe you want the Bostik 940FS. This is what I used where I had to caulk around my pedestal and around the perimeter. Mask both sides of your joint well then apply the caulk and tool it smooth. After it is cured you can sand it with 60 grit sandpaper (with the grain of the Flexiteek) to correct any problems.
