When I decided on a Flex-O-Fold your question did not occur to me. I had plenty of room between the shaft end and rudder. But the idea that the force of rotation moves four or five inches away from the cutlass bearing is worth considering. After only one season I cannot see any shaft looseness. And I am very satisfied with performance. It's a two-blade on an H37C with the small(20hp) diesel.
Dear Rob,You should not see much of a problem of adding additional length. As long as the section of shaft aft of the strut to the start of the propeller hub does not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the shaft. Sincerely, Kevin.
