My son Chris and I tried to get out on Lake Michigan today (south end) and the winds were pretty light....so we figured why not try to fly the assymetrical spinnaker that came with our Hunter 280. We had not rigged it before, but had read up about how to do it.

We got it rigged without too many "oops"....too bad my friend was not sailing beside me to get a photo...I bet it would have looked cool.

I cannot figure out what the extra pole is for....is this a "whisker pole" or a "spinnaker pole". Can I assume I don't need it with the a-spinnaker?
More stuff about our Hunter 280.....sv Obsession.

Sorry, I just realized I did not take a picture of the pole....I think it is called a spinnaker pole.

Congratulations on flying your spinnaker! Great colors, too. Very patriotic. I know exactly the feeling of flying it for the first time. Fun, exciting, scarey, fulfilling, wonderment, wanting-to-know-just-how-cool-you-really-look, exhilarating, happy... all of the above and more! Keep flying it and beg your fellow boaters for pictures.
