Flaking non-skid

I recently purchased a 23.5 and when I was power washing it I noticed that paint chips appear to be chipping off the non-skid surface leaving the surface with a light yellowish color. I don't know if this 'paint' is a factory application or if it something that a previous owner applied to the surface, or have I messed up something with the power washing.

Has anyone else seen this?

That is one of the risks of power washing. You should also never power wash around any hardware, stanchions, winches etc. that have been bedded. The powerwash can/will removing the caulking and you may end up with leaks.

The non-skid on most Hunters has been a paintable/rollable gelcoat.

I found it hard to get the non skid clean as well I talkd to another sailor and he explained that soft scrub with bleach worked well I used it with a bristle brush and it cleaned the tough spots right off, only setback is it contains bleach so prior to cleaning remove or cover your couch cushions as my hatch leak very little but enough to make a small bleach spot on my cushion along side the sink/stove side
