I have just refinished the teak flag pole for my boat. The previous owner had attached the flag with zip ties and I'm looking for a better way. The base is approx 1" in diameter, top tapers to half that. Total length is about 35 1/2". I'm thinking brass cup hooks and predrilling but again, I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks (again), max

brass cup hooks are basically how my ensign is attached to my teak pole. I drilled the mount through the base of the pole and insert a pin to keep the pole from being flipped off the stern by a dock line or a foolish mistake.

Hi,
Use brass or stainless screw eyes in the wood pole and stainless split rings to connect to the flag thru the grommets.

You can purchase flag hooks from WM.

They are called "Skipper Clips" from Jabsco

I also have a clip line from the staff to my stern pulpit. Helps avoid losing that nice flag and staff overboard.
