Fixing drain on a Carry-On A/C Unit

Mine looks the same way. It is in a terrible place for collateral damage.
Here's what I was planning on using to fix it, or something like it:

As for tapping out the plastic, it seems pretty thick there, so I'm not too worried about it. I will drill it out properly first, and tap it slowly with a little bit of lubricant. Mind you, tapping there will be tough because the handle of the tap will get in the way of the bottom of the unit.

Are those plastic or brass
Plastic might be more forgiving than brass, considering we have already managed to bang those fittings. Have you given any thought to just drilling out and shoving a smaller piece of tubing in there? I am thinking by the time you drill it out and tap it you have chewed up a bit of the plastic.

Same thing happened to me. Purchased a barb to male end fitting. Drilled the hole slightly larger and shoved it in and sealed with expoxy. Took a barb to female fitting and shoved this in the hose. Now, just have to attach the fitting to use the a/c and have it drain overboard. Don't remember the fitting size but the hose barb for the a/c was around 1/4" od.
